Baptism is an outward picture of an inward change God has made in your heart. When you put your trust in Christ, God was turning your heart away from sin and toward Him. Baptism is your way of telling the world, "I belong to Jesus!" When you go down in the water it pictures your old life being crucified with Christ. When you come out of the water it pictures you being raised to new life in Christ.
